While experimentation is fundamental to my contemporary art, female portrait painting retains, for me, a persistent attraction. These paintings, belonging to a series of paintings and photos taken during my trips around the world, and are created by applying enamel dots with a very small brush on a black acrylic grounded cardboard. The contrast of white on black, shiny over matt, and texture over smooth, embodies the subjective means of expression and exploration. Because I so easily identify with the sitters, I continue to be drawn to the need to express mine as well as their feelings and emotions through the richness of their expressions. I chose these particular images of  the women because of the emotional connection I feel with them. My voice mediates my internal needs and external demands along a line between idealization and realism.
